MPERS prepares financial statements on a quarterly basis. These un-audited statements contain detailed information on assests (including investments), liabilities, contributions, investment and other income, and benefit and administrative expenses.
MPERS prepares a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) each fiscal year. The CAFR contains detailed information on financial statements, investments, actuarial valuations, and membership. The accuracy of the data, as well as the completeness and fairness of the report is the responsibility of MPERS management. An annual audit of the financial statements is conducted by a certified public accountant. The State auditor has the authority to examine MPERS' audits at least once every three years.
