Board Election

Four positions of the MPERS Board of Trustees are up for election this year. The election process starts in March and ends with the Board declaring the winning candidates at the June board meeting.

The four board positions up for election are noted below:

  •  One active member nominated and elected by active members of MoDOT
  •  One active member nominated and elected by active members of the Highway Patrol
  •  One retired member nominated and elected by retired members of MoDOT
  •  One retired member nominated and elected by retired members of the Highway Patrol

Members who are interested in running for board positions should read the Board Election Brochure found on this webpage. All the necessary forms are included in that brochure along with other useful information.

The elections are conducted using electronic balloting. This means members must be signed up for MPERS Secure Member Access (i.e., myMPERS) in order to cast a ballot. If you do not have access you will not be able to cast your ballot.

The schedule for the board election is noted below:

February 26 Notification via the website to members announcing start of the election process
February 28 Email notification to members announcing start of the election process and requesting nominations for candidates
March 30 Completed Trustee Candidate Declaration Forms and Trustee Candidate Nomination Forms must be received at MPERS by 4:00 p.m.
April 5 MPERS will notify the nominees
April 15 Completed Trustee Candidate Information and Biography Form must be received at MPERS by 4:00 p.m.
April 30 Electronic ballots made available online to eligible members of each voting group if there are at least two candidates up for election in the voting group
May 31 Election Day – electronic ballots must be submitted by 4:00 p.m.
June 1 June 8 validation of electronic ballots. Executive director will make a preliminary announcement of election results and notify the successful candidates
June 21 Board meeting – executive director will certify to the Board the results of the election and introduce the successful candidates

In summary, if you are interested in running for an elected position, please read over the Board Election Brochure and begin the process. If you are a member who would like to vote, please make sure you are signed up for Secure Member Access and your passphrase is current and working properly. If you need to sign up for Secure Member Access, click on myMPERS Login and follow the instructions under “Enroll Now.” If you do not wish to run for the board vacancies and are already enrolled into myMPERS, simply wait for April 30th and we will send you notification that you can log in and cast your ballot.If there is only one appropriately certified candidate for a particular board position, there will be no election and the candidate will be declared the winner of the election.
