Welcome to the MPERS Board of Trustees Election Page!

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about MPERS Board elections. Elections are a vital part to the MPERS operation as it is governed by an eleven-member board of trustees. MPERS Board of Trustees is comprised of:

  • Three members of the state highways and transportation commission, elected by the members of the commission,
  • the superintendent of the Highway Patrol
  • the director of the Department of Transportation
  • a state senator appointment by the president pro-tem of the Senate
  • a state representative appointment by the speaker of the house
  • one active MoDOT employee
  • one active Highway Patrol employee
  • one retired MoDOT employee
  • one retired Highway Patrol employee

The active and retired trustees elected to the Board are representative of each group; this is the avenue in which MPERS’ members can make their voice heard.

How do I become a Board of Trustees candidate?

There are four steps to becoming a Board of Trustees candidate.

  1. Review the information on the candidate page or the Board Election Brochure.
  2. Complete the Trustee Candidate Nomination Form with required minimum signatures.
  3. Complete the Candidate Declaration Form
  4. For those who have successfully been nominated, complete the Trustee Candidate Information and Biography Form.

How do I cast my vote?

Voting is done electronically through your myMPERS Secure Member Access account.
You can cast your ballot beginning April 29, 2022 until 4:00 p.m. on May 26, 2022.

What is the election schedule?

February 28
Email or website notification to members announcing start of the nomination period.

March 31
Completed Trustee Candidate Declaration Forms and Trustee Candidate Nomination Forms must be received at MPERS by 4:00 p.m.

April 5
MPERS will notify the nominees.

April 15
Completed Trustee Candidate Information and Biography Form must be received at MPERS by 4:00 pm.

April 29
Voting begins – electronic ballots are available online and voting is open to eligible members of each voting group if there are at least two candidates up for election in the voting group.

May 26
Voting ends – electronic ballots must be submitted by 4:00 p.m.

June 1 – June 8
Validation of electronic ballots. Executive Director will make a preliminary announcement of election results and notify the successful candidates.

June 16
Board meeting – Executive Director will certify to the Board the results of the election and introduce the successful candidates.
