Welcoming New Trustee J. Bret Johnson
The MoDOT & Patrol Employees’ Retirement System (MPERS) is pleased to welcome J. Bret Johnson, retired Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Superintendent, to its Board of Trustees. Johnson officially begins his service on July 1, 2026, representing retired MSHP members.
Johnson brings more than 30 years of leadership experience with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, including serving as the Patrol’s 22nd Superintendent from 2015 until his retirement in 2017. Over his career, he held numerous leadership roles and worked to strengthen collaboration across law enforcement agencies while advancing public safety initiatives throughout Missouri. Of note, Johnson served on the MPERS Board in his capacity as the active elected representative, and then as the Colonel of the Highway Patrol. Johnson’s terms were from July 2010 to February 2017.
As a member of the MPERS Board, Johnson will help oversee the System’s operations, investments, and policies, working alongside fellow Trustees to protect the long-term financial security of MoDOT and MSHP members and retirees.
Appreciation for Outgoing Trustee Bill Seibert
The Board also extends its sincere appreciation to William “Bill” Seibert, who is concluding his extensive service as the MSHP Retiree Representative.
Seibert has been a dedicated member of the Board since July 1, 2014, providing steady leadership and valuable insight drawn from his extensive public service career. During his tenure, he served in key roles, including as Board Chair and as a member of multiple board committees, helping guide oversight and governance efforts.
Throughout his time on the Board, Seibert contributed to important decisions impacting benefit security, investment performance, and governance practices. His commitment to serving fellow retirees and ensuring the strength of the System has been a valued part of MPERS’ continued success.
