Larry Krummen Inducted into CIO Hall of Fame

Larry Krummen, Chief Investment Officer for MPERS, was inducted into the Markets Group CIO Hall of Fame on March 10, 2026, during the Markets Group Central States Institutional Forum in Kansas City, Missouri.

The CIO Hall of Fame recognizes chief investment officers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and sustained long-term investment performance within the institutional investment community.

Krummen was honored for his disciplined, long-term approach to investing and leadership in building a nationally recognized investment program at MPERS. Under his direction, the MPERS investment portfolio has consistently ranked among the top-performing public pension funds in the country over multiple long-term periods. Furthermore, the honor also recognized the significant contribution that investment performance, coupled with the Board’s aggressive funding policies, has made to the overall funding improvement of MPERS. The funding progress over the last 20 years is unmatched in the public pension community.

Markets Group highlighted Krummen’s ability to deliver strong results across multiple market cycles while maintaining a focus on diversification, risk management, and fiduciary responsibility on behalf of plan members.

Krummen has served as MPERS’ Chief Investment Officer since 2003 and oversees the System’s investment strategy and portfolio management.
