Each year, MPERS reviews its Vital Signs, key indicators that measure the overall health and stability of the retirement system. These metrics cover areas such as benefit administration, compliance, cybersecurity, financial audits, and investment performance.
For Fiscal Year 2025, the results are clear:
✅ All Vital Signs are green.
This means MPERS met or exceeded expectations in every category, reinforcing confidence in the System’s operations and governance.
Highlights from FY 2025:
- Strong Investment Performance: MPERS achieved a 12.71% return, which far surpassed the 6.5% actuarial assumed rate of return.
- Improved Funded Status: The System’s funded status climbed to 75.7%, the highest in MPERS’ history.
- Operational Excellence: Annual audits and compliance reviews confirmed MPERS’ commitment to transparency and fiduciary responsibility.
The Vital Signs dashboard uses green, yellow, or red to provide quick insight into MPERS’ health. Green signals performance as expected, yellow is cautionary, and red is a warning of a problem or an unacceptable outcome. For FY 2025, every indicator is green, signaling a strong and sustainable future for our members.
