The provisions regarding your retirement and disability benefits can be confusing. MPERS’ benefit specialists are available to answer your questions through group seminars or personal counseling.

Benefit Basics

This group session is an ideal way for new members to receive a general overview of the retirement and disability benefits available to eligible MoDOT or Highway Patrol employees.

Pre-Retirement Seminars

As you approach retirement, we cannot stress enough the value of attending at least one Pre-Retirement Seminar – some members attend multiple seminars. This popular seminar is offered at various locations throughout the state. Because of the limited seating, we send special invitations (with online registration instructions) to members within 5 years of retirement that live in the vicinity of the seminar.

Personal Counseling Session

Need to talk to someone about your unique situation? Our benefit specialists can be reached by phone from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. If you prefer, stop by our office and talk to a specialist in person (call for appointment).

For your convenience, MPERS makes benefit information readily available through various means of printed and online material and communications.

Video Counseling

For the convenience of members outside the Jefferson City area, we offer video counseling sessions. This new method of communication is made available through our partnership with MoDOT and is available to employees of MoDOT and the Highway Patrol. Anyone can use the video counseling communication tool; however, there are some basic requirements listed below that are needed:

  • A computer, tablet, or smartphone with high-speed internet, speakers, microphone, and video camera
  • Google Chrome or Firefox web browser
  • Link to online video counseling: https://join.modot.org

Should you wish to use video counseling for a retirement counseling session, simply schedule a session with one of our benefit counselors by calling 1-800-270-1271.
