Retirees and Beneficiaries
Stay informed about the retirement system, and likewise, keep MPERS informed of changes in your life. If you change addresses phone numbers, get married, etc, please let us know.
Cost of Living Adjustments (COLAs)
MPERS provides annual COLAs to eligible retired members, surviving spouses, former spouses, beneficiaries, surviving children under the age of 21 and work-related disability recipients. Regardless of which plan you are in, the annual COLA rate is based on 80% of the average percentage increase in the Consumer Price index for all Urban Consumers for the United States (CPI-U), with an annual maximum of five percent.
Reemployment After Retirement
On occasion, retirees may seek out employment opportunities once they have retired with MPERS. For retirees considering reemployment under a Missouri State Employees’ Retirement System or MPERS covered agency, there are guidelines in place that may affect your MPERS benefit.
MPERS is here to help you navigate this difficult, sometimes unexpected, season. Whether you are a retiree whose spouse has passed away or you are the surviving spouse, it is important to know what benefits you may be entitled to. This section of the website will help you begin the process.
